Luma Haddad
Speaker for A Place at the Table
Luma Haddad has been the Young Life Urban Area Director for San Diego South Bay for 23 years and is now the Associate Regional Director for San Diego Metro. Luma directly works with teenagers in Junior High and High Schools and with teen moms on campuses across San Diego. She is passionate about her work with youth and empowering them to know their worth. She is also a public speaker, and has spoken to many audiences of teenagers, women, and youth workers all over the United States and in the Middle East. Luma was born in San Francisco, lived in Amman, Jordan and graduated from Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego with a major in Broadcast Journalism. She resides in San Diego with her husband Rami and her children Jordan (16) and Yasmeen (12).
Luma and her team have met teen parents through Teen Parenting Centers and Continuation schools and have started mentoring relationships with them. This group of teenagers have often been marginalized in our society and ex-communicated by their families and churches. Young Life mentors hope to be a beacon of light for these teens and journey alongside of them as they learn to parent their children and help provide parenting classes, diapers and essentials as well as summer camping opportunities. All the while helping disciple them so that they may be followers of Christ who experience the abundant life Jesus has to offer them.
